Tamim Iqbal already had the highest runs for his country in T20, ODI and Test cricket, now he just crossed another milestone in the triumphant 1st ODI against Afghanistan. Tamim now holds 9000 runs in international cricket.
Tamim crossed the 3000 runs milestone last year, in T20 his runs exceed 1000. But his main showcase is his ODI records in which he holds 4700+ runs and needed only 15 runs from the 1st ODI against Afghanistan to reach this milestone. He did that by swatting Daulat Zadran off the field with a boundary in style.
The closest contenders of Tamim among his countrymen are Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim. Shakib has 8324 runs and Mushfiq has 7273. Mohammad Ashraful and Habibul Bashar are the only two except these three batsmen to have crossed 5000 runs.
Tamim also holds the most centuries across the formats, 14. But Shakib remains ahead with his half century count with 54 on the book. Tamim is one half century behind Shakib. It is hopeful that both of them will grace their records a bit more in this series against Afghanistan and throughout their career.
