The first one came a long time ago. After a decade of playing cricket and it was on the 23rd match. It was 1998, the Tigers were playing against Kenya. A brilliant opening partnership between Mohammad Rafique and Atahar Ali Khan actualized the first one day international win for Bangladesh. A lot have happened since then, Bangladesh needed another 17 years to win 98 more matches. Now we stand before a great milestone. The 2nd ODI against Afghanistan could be the 100th ODI win for Bangladeshi Tigers.
The first match against the Afghans was too close for comfort. The Tigers were shaken by the Afghan battle spirits. Surely Mashrafe plans for a more comfortable win for the next ODI. A win in the next match will not only signify the 100th win for Bangladesh but also seal the 3 match series for them too. Shahidi-Rahmat partnership was tough to deal with on the first ODI. They also have the firepower of players like Nabi, Stanikzai and SHehzad with them. Tigers bowling coach Walsh has hopefully devised foolproof plan to tackle these batsmen with Taskin, Rubel and Mashrafe. There are Shakib, Taijul and Mosaddek too if the going gets tough for the seamers.
Soumya who got out on a duck on the last ODI would want to get a flying start in the upcoming match. A bit more fiery attitude in the slog overs is expected from Mushfiq, Sabbir and Mahmudulla too.
The stage is set in Mirpur, just the anticipation remains.
