Mushfiq-Mosaddek partnership helps Bangladesh to get 277 on series decider

Rain was the talking point of the day, but it was, only before the game had started. There was a rain forecast throughout the day, there was rain even today in Chittagong. But the groundsmen of Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium did an excellent job to prepare the ground. The series decider started on time as England won the toss and chose to field.

Two Bangladeshi openers gave a firm start, first wicket partnership put 80 runs. But then Imrul fell for 46, off 58 deliveries. Tamim becomes the first Bangladeshi batsman to score 5000 runs in ODIs but he failed to reach the milestone of fifty. He followed his opening partner, with five short of his fifty.

Mahmudullah came, hit Adil Rashid for a six. He was dismissed in the very next ball.

The partnership between Sabbir and Mushfiqur was building on as these two added 54 runs. But Sabbir also couldn’t reach to fifty, he became the third scalp of Rashid in the day after scoring a cracking 46 balls 49.

Shakib and Nasir followed him, both made 4 runs each.

Then the youngster Mosaddek joined the test captain Mushfiqur. Mushfiq becomes the first batsman on the day to reach fifty, he’s done it in a style by hitting Chris Woakes a six over mid-wicket. The 7th wicket partnership added 85 runs and this was the highest for this wicket of Bangladesh against England.

Both Mushfiq and Mosaddek were not out on 67 and 38 respectively. In the end Bangladesh have 277 to defend. If they can defend it, it will be 7th series win for the Tigers in a row.
