The final session of fourth day has certainly overshadowed any other thriller as the game has changed its balance like pendulum. Bangladesh needs just 33 runs to win this game but they have only two wickets alive.
Bangladesh started the day magnificently and took only 20 minutes to wrap up English innings. England’s dream to set a target over 300 thus shattered within 4.2 overs and leave Bangladesh a target of 286 runs.
Bangladeshi openers started well but Tamim suddenly lost his concentration and got caught at short leg. Wickets then started to fall at regular intervals and Bangladeshi top order failed to crystallize any decent partnership. Kayes and Mominul seemed promising but eventually they didn’t succeed to put a big score on the board.
Bangladesh were on 140 for 5 at a certain moment and then Sabbir Rahman came to the ploy. He and Mushfiq made a vital 87 runs partnership to keep Bangladesh hopes alive. This massive partnership under the difficult context for Bangladesh was broken by Batty. After that Miraz and Rabbi were unable to accompany Sabbir and Bangladesh lost their 8th on 238 runs. Taijul was able to keep his wicket intact at the end and was unbeaten on 11.
Sabbir is certainly Bangladesh’s big hope for winning this game. The final showdown of Chittagong test may favor any side tomorrow.
