The second match of the rescheduled Bangladesh Premier league will be held between Dhaka Dynamites and Barisal Bulls.
The champion team of the first two editions, Dhaka emerged with a new name in last year’s edition. But they could not repeat the previous success.
This year Dhaka is rejuvenated with a bunch of world class players. This year, they will be captained by Shakib Al Hasan. He will enjoy the company of the maverick West Indies all rounders Dwayne Bravo and Andre Russell. Both of them are probably the most explosive players in the shortest form the game. Their fellow countryman Evin Lewis can cause some havoc in the top order.
Sri Lanka legends Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara will add more experience to the team. Nasir Hossain, Suhrawardi Shuvo, Mohammad Shahid are also seasoned campaigners. Young Mosaddek Hossain will try carry on his brilliant form in the local cricket.
Barisal Bulls have also gone themselves quite a revelation. This time, Mushfiqur Rahim will be their skipper. They have some very handy local players in their team. The captain himself is still the top scorer of this tournament, combined all three previous seasons. Shahriar Nafees, Shamsur Rahman, Dhiman Ghosh are the dependable performers in the local cricket. Promising all rounder from BCB’s high performance unit, Mahedi hasan can come in handy. Last season’s top wicket (21) taker Abu Hider Rony from Comilla has joined Barisal this time. He will line-up with national team pacer Al-Amin Hossain and left-arm spinner Taijul Islam.
Barisal have got a couple of ambidextrous players. Carlos Brathwaite -Caribbean hero from the last World T20 final- will seek to regain his all-round form here. Srilankan all-rounder Thisara Perera is also a coveted choice in T20 leagues these years.
