A brilliant knock from Mohammad Shahzad ensured a clinical win for the Rangpur Riders as they beat the Chittagong Vikings by 9 wickets in their opening match of the 4th BPL. Chasing a target of 125 runs, the Afghan wicket-keeper batsman made a 77 runs opening partnership with Soumya Sarkar and then continued with that brilliance to get his team well past the line.
Shahzad opened his account by cutting Razzak for a boundary through the slip. With Soumya, he then grew the run at a good rate. He notched up his 14th T20 fifty off 41 balls which he then raced up to 80 unbeaten while clinching the win in a style, smacking Taskin for back-to-back six, four and six in the 15th and apparently the final over of the match. He decorated his stroke-powered innings off 52 balls with 11 fours and 3 sixes.
