When he got into the middle, his team just lost three top order batsmen. He did not seem to care at all. Stepping forward, he drove Abu Jayed through the cover boundary for a four. That is Samit Patel for you, who remained instrumental all around in the Rajshahi Kings’ maiden win in AKS BPL T20 2016 over the Dhaka Dynamites. After impressing with ball, Samit posted an unbeaten knock of 44 runs to get his team past the finish line.
Samit started with cleaning up Dhaka’s Lankan veteran Mahela Jayawardene whom he made a catch of Farhad Reza at long off. He then put an end to Mehedi Maruf’s apparently flourishing knock of 25 from 22 by trapping him in front. Samit then caught the vital catch of Ravi Bopara (20) helping his side restricting the opponents to a chaseable 138. He finished with the figure 4-1-20-2.
He then posted 44 runs off 25 balls with 6 fours and 1 six which eventually sealed the win for the Kings. He has been awarded man of the match for this all-round performance.
