Comilla Victorians did not have a memorable start in this ongoing 4th edition of BPL as they were the only side from the 1st phase held in Dhaka to lose all of their 4 matches. The defending champions will look forward to bouncing back from Chittagong where they will start taking on Rangpur Riders on Friday evening.
The Rangpur side are now at number 2 on the point table with 3 wins from 4 matches. They have won their opening two matches comprehensively against Chittagong and Khulna, both by 9 wickets before experiencing 1st defeat of the season to Dhaka. Their bowling unit is doing especially well with former Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi making it to the top five wicket takers till now. Local lads like Arafat Sunny and Sohag Gazi are also performing well. Afghan recruit Mohammad Shahzad has shown his worth in the first match where he starred with his unbeaten knock of 80.
For Comilla, it’s disappointing obviously to wait for a win so long with such a formidable squad combining local and international stars. Their top order batsmen are not getting enough runs when bowlers are struggling hard to pick up wickets. Nevertheless, one good day can change the scenario for the champions as the skipper Mashrafe believes so. Can they have it from their very first fixture in Chittagong?
