North Bengal derby looms closer again as Rangpur Riders meet Rajshahi Kings again after a few days gap.
The Rangpur side are now on the back foot. They have lost back to back fixtures against Rajshahi and Chittagong. Their bowling unit is doing especially well with former Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi making it to the top five wicket takers till now. Local lads like Arafat Sunny and Sohag Gazi are also performing well. Afghan recruit Mohammad Shahzad has lost some of his hitting form as we’ve seen him at earlier matches of this season. It’s going to be a battle of nerves in the end and their opponents are so far seen quite a lot of nerve racking battles as well!
Rajshahi Kings are on the rise. They have won back to back matches against two table toppers. If they can win this leg of the derby too they will be in a very good position to qualify for the next stage. Rajshahi has a very good and in form batting line up at the top. All of their top order batsmen – Mominul, Sabbir, Samit Patel, Akmal are getting runs. Skipper Sammy is now at his explosive best, winning the last two matches for the Kings with his bat. Their bowling needs to stop leaking runs and the lower order needs to stand strong during the dying overs of the match, then the Kings can win any match by their current standards.
