Rajshahi Kings have kept their playoff prospect alive defeating Chittagong Vikings comfortable by 6 wickets. Restricting the opponents to 111 courtesy Afifi Hossain- a 17 years old surprise kid, the Kings gunned down the runs in 13.5 overs.
Put in to bat first, the Vikings batting shocked from the very beginning as they lost in-form skipper Tamim Iqbal from the first ball of the innings, bowled out by Kesrick Williams. In the following over, Miraz gave the second blow crashing Anamul’s stumps for 8. The Vikings’ slide continued from there as Afif, a left-arm spinner, tore through their batting backbone. Removing Jahurul from his first over, the teenage boy bowled out his man Chris Gayle for 5. Afif-show went on with Sabbir catching a stunner and then Saqlain Sajib getting bowled followed by Imran Junior caught behind for a duck. By that time, CHV got reduced to 70/8. Despite the mighty collapse, Shoaib Malik held one end up who, with his unbeaten 67 from 54 hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes, posted a triple-digit total. Afifi, in his devastating spell, claimed 5 for 21.
Chasing down the total, Nurul and Mominul had a cautious start scoring scoring 30 from first 5 overs. Nurul was bowled out by Sajib for 12. Sajib dismissed Mominul one over later, bowling him out for 21. Despite couple of other losses, James Franklin steered his side past the finish line with balls and 6 wickets remaining. Franklin was unbeaten on 63 from 27 balls hitting 5 fours and 4 sixes.
