Match Report: Russell, bowlers carry DD to maiden BPL final

The Dhaka Dynamites side have registered their maiden place in the BPL T20 defeating the Khulna Titans by 54 runs in the first qualifier. Posting a total of 140, DD successfully defended it wrapping up the Titans for 86 in 16.2 overs.

Defending the total, DD bowlers pressed the Titans batsmen from the very beginning and later on claimed wickets at regular intervals. Andre Fletcher tried to give his side a cautious start before  getting stumped by Sangakkara off Shakib’s delivery for 28. DD pacer Andre Russell then got rid of KHT captain Mahmudullah and Hasanuzzaman from a single over, both for 5. Rahi, Sunzamul, Mosaddek and Bravo joined the party as they combinedly dismantled the Titans’ batting order. Other than Fletcher, only Ariful (14) could manage a double-digit score. Russell and Bravo claimed 3 wickets each.

Earlier in the evening, Titans’ pacer Junaid Khan dismantled the Dynamites’ top order claiming Mehedi, Sangakkara and Lewis from his first 2 overs. Nasir and Shakib attempting a repair, Andre Fletcher got rid of both of them for 13 and 18, reducing DD to 65 for 5. Mosaddek cost himself for a run out and then it was Andre Russell and Dwayne Bravo who lifted the team total to 140. Zinaid claimed Russell 25-ball 46 with 4 fours and 3 sixes while Bravo was unbeaten on 23.
