Only a few days back, he was an unknown face to all Bangladeshi cricket fans. Then he got a chance to play for Rajshahi Kings and enthralled everyone with his bewitching off spin. He is Afif Hossain, only 17 years old lad, and has already shown huge prospect for Bangladesh cricket.
He started his T20 career with a bang by securing 5 wickets giving only 21 runs. He had clean bowled Gayle as well in that match against Chittagong Vikings. He also holds the best bowling figure in the last season of BPL.
His mentor, however, mentioned that he’s just a part-timer bowler and his genuine talent blossoms with bat. Afif proved his mentor’s belief in him magnificently today and scored a crucial knock of 80 runs when Bangladesh U19 was shivering frantically after losing 4 wickets in just 100 runs with a run rate well below four.
Afif played like a genuine top order batsman. In the middle of immense pressure, he held his sway and valued his wicket tremendously at the initial phase of his innings. After his initial chary play, Afif gradually opened his arms and played some glorious strokes all around the ground. He scored 8 fours and 2 sixes in his 94 balls innings and rendered Bangladesh team to eye for a respectable total.
Bangladesh U19 eventually scored 230 runs depending on the late storm by Rakib and Aminul’s willows. Pakistan U19 must win this game to stay alive in this tournament.
