Shafiul Islam has been declared fit to play longer version cricket and is playing for his team Rajshahi. He also bowled 8 overs yesterday as Rajshahi had been dismissed on 191 runs in the first innings and took two important wickets.
Shafiul Islam was on song during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and played a crucial role to take Khulna Titans to the last four by securing 18 wickets from 12 matches. During the qualifier 1 match on December 6 against Dhaka Dynamites, he had pulled his left hamstring and the scan report indicated that injury as a ‘grade two strain’. Consequently, he missed the conditioning camp in Australia and the ODI series against New Zealand as well.
Minhajul Abedin Nannu, the selector of Bangladesh team, had expressed his griefs for losing Shafiul and also expected his comeback within 4 weeks. There is a high chance that Shafiul would be considered for the upcoming test series against New Zealand.
