Mominul Haque has been with the team since they have left the country in early December but hasn’t made it to the squad for the shorter formats. However, he has done his job relentlessly, honed himself sharply and afterwards executed his skills phenomenally on the first day of Wellington test in a rain-meddled, windy condition difficult to bat on.
Mominul came to the crease quite early as Imrul Kayes had departed by playing an unnecessary pull shot. Mominul was extremely cautious and composed at the beginning and played with utter sincerity as well as discreet attention. He took his time to set on the crease and scored only 3 runs from his first 30 balls. From the role of anchormanship, he blossomed as a stroke player soon after Tamim’s departure and played some marvelous drives, cuts and flicks all around the ground. He remained unbeaten on 64 when bad light forced the umpires to declare stumps.
