Bangladesh women team is really struggling with their batting performance and have lost two consecutive games in Cox’s Bazar despite after pretty good bowling performance. They are now trailing the 5 match ODI series against South Africa women team by 0-2.
In the second ODI, South Africa had won the toss and elected to bat first. The openers had made a stately first wicket stand of 115 runs but Bangladeshi girls, since then, came back strongly and restricted Proteas on 223 runs. Khadija had secured 4 wickets for Bangladesh.
Bangladeshi batters were well below the bench mark in reply to this manageable target. Rumana Ahmed, the skipper and Sharmin Akhter had made a solid third wicket partnership of 127 runs and were paving the way to level the series. But after their departure, no other were able to cope with the bowlers to score quick runs and Bangladesh team eventually fell short by 17 runs after playing stipulated 50 overs. Sharmin scored 74 and whereas Rumana scored a good innings of 68 runs.
Third ODI of the series will be played on January 16.
