The pitch in Wellington was extending its favorable hand towards batsmen in the fourth day of the test match and New Zealanders had put a big total on the board in reply to the Bangladesh’ first innings total of 595. Bangladeshi bowlers fought hard all along the day to bowl out New Zealand and take a decent first innings lead of 56 runs. However, in the late afternoon, the pitch somehow changing its character as Santner and Wagner have troubled Bangladeshi batsmen with some massive turns and good short pitch deliveries. Bangladesh have ended the day on 66 losing three wickets in their second innings but possessing an overall aggregate of 122 runs.
Kamrul Islam Rabbi is the most successful bowler for Bangladesh as he had clinched three wickets. But, today’s most magical bowler was Mahmudullah as he had taken two wickets in his very first over to send back the set batsman Watling and Southee. Shakib and Subashish have also taken two wickets each.
Bangladesh started quite well in their second innings but suddenly Kayes pulled his muscle while taking a quick single and left the field on stretcher. Tamim departed soon after as he got bowled by a superb delivery from Santner. Bangaldesh have found themselves in a position of soreness due to the loss of Mahmudullah and Miraz in quick succession just before the end of day’s play.
Tomorrow two teams will get minimum 98 overs to play and the play will begin at 3:30 AM Bangladesh time.
