Mushfiqur Rahim and Imrul Kayes have been declared unfit to play the second test in Christchurch and in addition to them Mominul Haque is also going to miss the match. Mominul is nursing a bruised rib cage and albeit X-ray reports on him came out clear, he was unable to make the necessary movements during the training session today. The physio, afterwards, declared him unfit to play the test.

Bangladesh physio Dean Conway has said about the skipper’s situation. “Mushfiq still has pain in the joint of his right thumb which needs time to heal. At this stage we are confident that he will recover fully in a couple of weeks and will be fit for our next Test commitment.”

Imrul had a strain in the front thigh muscle and he requires two more weeks for full recovery, means he will not be available for the match as well.

Due to the injury-enforced unavailability of the three players; fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman and uncapped batsman Nazmul Hossain Shanto have been included in the revised 14-man squad for the second Test. Tamim Iqbal will lead the squad whereas Shakib al Hasan will act as his deputy.

The second test in Christchurch will begin from tomorrow (Friday).
