Upul Tharanga started the session aggressively and picked up his 3rd Test hundred in a no time. Shakib broke the partnership and dismissed Kusal Mendis on 19.

Mehedi then got rid of centurion Tharanga on 115. Shakib struck in the next over and removed Gunaratne. Mehedi took another wicket before tea break.  Wicket-keeper Liton Das took a dazzling catch to dismiss Niroshan Dickwella on 15.

Sri Lanka are on 247 for 5 after 64 overs at the tea break with a lead of 429 runs.
