Bangladesh suffer a setback after steady start

Bangladesh 1st innings: 214/5 (Soumya 61, Tamim 49, Sabbir 42, Imrul 34, Shakib 18*, Mushfiq 2*, Sandakan 3/65)

Bangladesh have suffered a setback after the openers gave a steady start. Earlier Sri Lanka were bowled out for 338 runs before lunch.

Sri Lanka started the day with two unbeaten batsman Dinesh Chandimal and Rangana  Herath. They have added 55 runs in the 8th wicket. It was Shakib Al Hasan who broke the partnership and got rid of Herath on 21.

Chandimal scored a fine hundred and finally dismissed by Mehedi Hasan on 138. Subashis Roy got rid of Suranga Lakmal who scored a scored quick fire 35 run.

Mehedi Hasan was the best bowler for Bangladesh with 3 wickets for 90 runs.

In reply, Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar started well for Bangladesh. They added 95 runs in the opening stand before Tamim was dismissed for 49 just before tea.

Soumya picked up his 4th Test fifty and gone for 61. Imrul Kayes and Sabbir Rahman made a partnership of 62 in the 3rd wicket. Imrul was trapped lbw by Lakshan Sandakan on 34.

Night watchman Taijul Islam failed to last long and dismissed in the very first ball he faced. Sabbir also could not finish the day and was dismissed by Lakmal. Bangladesh lost three wickets in the evening within only seven deliveries. Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim passed the rest of the time without further trouble.

Bangladesh still trail by 124 runs with 5 wickets in hand.
