Bangladesh beat Nepal in the second match of Max Emerging Teams Asia Cup

Nepal : 174/10 in 42.3 overs (Airee 56, Dilip 41, Bhandari 33, Javed 4/45, Shaif 3/22, A.Hasan 2/40)

A brilliant unbeaten hundred from Nasir Hossain and impressive performance from the bowlers have helped Bangladesh to beat Nepal by 83 runs in their second match of the Max Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2017.

Nepal have won the toss and sent Bangladesh to bat first. But Avinash Karn caused a trouble in the early morning and picked up the wickets of Azmir Ahmed, Mohammed Saif Hassan and Md Mithun for only 15 runs.

Soon Nazmul Hossain Shanto also departed at 4 runs. Then skipper Mominul Haque joined with Nasir Hossain and made a partnership of 78 runs. Sandeep Lamichhane got rid of Mominul before he scored 61 from 78 balls.

Couple of overs later Lamichhane struck again and dismissed Afif Hossain on 14. Shaif Uddin was run out for 13. Bangladesh was in deep trouble when Rahatul Ferdous Javed was dismissed on 4 and Bangladesh were on 175/8.

But Abul Hasan Raju supported Nasir well through the rest of the innings and added 76 runs from 55 balls in the 9th wicket. Abul Hasan was dismissed on 29 in the 50th over but his valuable contribution has helped Bangladesh to score past 250 runs. Nasir picked up his hundred in the last over and remained not out on 109 from 115 balls.

Bangladesh finished their innings on 257 for 9 after 50 overs. Avinash Karn was the most successful bowler for Nepal with 3 wickets for 46 runs.

In reply Nepal lost their both openers in the early part of their innings quickly as Shaif Uddin picked up the wickets of Gyanendra Malla and Sunil Dhamala. Abul Hasan also joined the party and dismissed Asif Sheik on 12.

Dilip Nath and Dipendra Singh Airee put some fight back and added 98 runs in the 4th wicket. Rahatul Ferdous Javed broke the partnership and bowled Dilip Nath out on 41. Javed struck 3 more times in the next few overs and got rid of Sharad Vesawkar, half-centurion Dipendra Singh Airee and Mahaboob Alam.

Binod Bhandari was the next man to be dismissed by Shaif on 33. Abul Hasan dismissed Bhuwan Karki on 6. Avinash Karn was run out on 1 and Nepal were bowled out for 174. Rahatul Ferdous Javed was the standout bowler for Bangladesh with 4 wickets for 45 runs. Shaif Uddin picked up 3 wickets for 22 runs.

Bangladesh will play their next match against Pakistan at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium, Cox’s Bazar on 30th march.
