Sri Lanka and Pakistan will face each other tomorrow in the final of Max Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2017 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong.
Sri Lanka beat host Bangladesh by 8 wickets in the 1st semi-final. Batting first Bangladesh were bowled out for 179 in 49.3 overs. Sri Lanka chase down the Bangladesh total quite comfortably thanks to Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka’s unbeaten 165 runs partnership in the 3rd wicket.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first in the other semi-final against Afghanistan. They posted 267 for 5 after 50 overs. In reply Afghanistan were all out for 144 in 31.4 overs and lost the match by 123 runs.
Sri Lanka came to the semi-final as champion form Group A. They lost the first group stage match against India by 35 runs but bounced back with a win against Afghanistan by 35 runs and thrashed Malaysia in the last match beating them by 205 runs.
On the other hand Pakistan became champion of Group B with slightly better run-rate than Bangladesh after the last group stage match ended in a tie. Pakistan started their campaign with a win over Nepal by 6 wickets and hammered Hong Kong in the 2nd match and won by 248 runs.
Final will start at 2 pm local time.
