The Match between Bangladesh and Australia has been called off due to heavy rain at The Oval. Bangladesh is remain in the competition after getting a point.

Earlier Mashrafe Bin Mortaza won the toss and elected to bat first. Soumya departed early after scoring 3. Soon Imrul Kayes and Mushfiqur Rahim followed him and Bangladesh were in trouble on 53 for 3. Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan’s 69 runs partnership in the fourth wicket rescued Bangladesh from early damage.

But after Shakib was dismissed after scoring 29, Australia bounced back in the match and wracked up the Bangladesh innings for 182 in 44.3 overs. Tamim missed his second hundred in the competition by 5 runs. His innings of 95 off 114 balls included 6 fours and 3 sixes. Mitchell Starc picked up 4 wickets for 29.

In reply David Warner and Aaron Finch gave Australia a solid start. Rubel got rid of Finch on 19. Then skipper Steven Smith joined with Warner and added 36 runs before rain interrupted the play.

Bangladesh will play against New Zealand in their final group match on 9th June at Cardiff.
