Stumps, Day 1
South Africa : 298/1 in 90 overs (Elgar 128*, Markram 97, Amla 68*; Mahmudullah 0/13)
Bangladesh bowlers had a tough time in the first day of first Test against South Africa at Potchefstroom. South Africa are 298 in 90 overs losing only one wicket.
Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and elected to bowl first in the morning. But two Proteas opener Dean Elgar and debutant Aiden Markram had other ideas. Their 196 runs opening wicket partnership put South Africa in the driving seat in the first two sessions. Finally Markram was run out on 97 in the last over before tea break.
Centurion Elgar and Hashim Amla batted the rest of the day giving Bangladesh no chance of taking wicket. Elgar remained not out on 128 and Amla on 68. Mushfiqur used seven bowlers but failed to get any success throughout the day.
