After another eventful day in the first Test at Potchefstroom, fifth and final day is poised for an exciting finish. Bangladesh need 375 more runs to win the match while South Africa need 7 wickets.

South Africa started the day on 54 for 2. Mustafizur Rahman dismissed Hashim Amla early in the morning on 28. Then Temba Bavuma and du Plessis added 142 runs in the 4th wicket. Finally Mominul Haque broke the partnership by dismissing du Plessis on 81. Mominul struck twice in quick-succession and got rid of Bavuma and de Kock. South Africa declared their second innings on 247 for 6.

Chasing 424, Tigers had a nightmare start as they lost both Tamim Iqbal and Mominul Haque in the very first over. Morne Morkel claimed both of the wickets. At 0 for 2, Bangladesh were in all sorts of trouble. Imrul Kayes and Mushfiqur Rahim’s 49 runs partnership in the third wicket made some repair. But Keshav Maharaj struck in just before tea break and picked up the wicket of Kayes 32.

Due to rain, rest of day’s play was abandoned. Bangladesh finished the day on 49 for 3. Mushfiqur remained not out 16.
