Bangladesh A won the second one dayer of the 5-match series against Ireland A by 3 wickets thanks to Tanvir Haider’s unbeaten half-century. The first match was abandoned due to rain.
Ireland A chose to bat first after winning the toss. Abu Haydar gave the first breakthrough to Bangladesh A by dismissing Jack Tactor on 6. Sunzamul Islam picked up the wicket of James Shannon. Abul Hasan got rid of the next two batsmen John Anderson and Andrew Balbirnie. Tanvir Haider bowled Ireland A top scorer Simi Sing out on 33. Ireland A were bowled out for 195 in 48.1 overs. Sanzamul bagged 4 wickets for 33.
Chasing 195, Bangladesh A lost the wicket of Zakir Hasan early of their innings. Then skipper Nazmul Hossain and Sadman Islam added 56 runs in the second wicket partnership. Nathan Smith trapped Sadman for lbw at 24. Next two batsmen Al-Amin and Nadif Chowdhury were dismissed before scoring big.
Bangladesh A were in big trouble after losing Nazmul Hossain Nurul Hasan in quick-succession. Nazmul Hossain was dismissed after scoring on 44. But a 42-run stand between Tanvir Haider and Sanzamul Islam in the seventh wicket rebuild the Bangladesh innings. Simi Sing broke the partnership by dismissing Sanzamal on 16. But Tanvir remained not out till the end and ensured a thrilling 3 wicket victory. He was unbeaten on 61 and Abul Hosen was on 10.
Third match of the series will be held at Sheikh Kamal International Stadium, Cox’s Bazar on October 21.
