Bangladesh A beat Ireland A by 4 wickets in the fourth one-dayer (20 overs per side) thanks to Al-Amin Jr.’s quick-fire half-century. Bangladesh A lead the 5-match series 3-0.
After winning the toss at Cox’s Bazar, Nazmul Hossain Shanto decided to field first. Mehedi Hasan struck in the very first over of the match by dismissing James Shannon. Andrew Balbirnie’s second consecutive half-century helped Ireland A to post 170 for 7 in 20 overs. Balbirnie scored 83. Imran Ali Enam bagged 3 wickets for 33.
In reply Bangladesh A lost the wicket of Anamul Haque early. Other opener Zakir Hasan was dismissed after scoring 22. Then skipper Nazmul Hossain and Al-Amin added 58 runs in the third wicket partnership. Stuart Thompson picked up the wicket of Nazmul on 47.
After losing Yasir Ali and Tanvir Haider in quick-succession, Al-Amin stuck to the crease for Bangladesh A who was eventually dismissed in the 19th over. Al-Amin scored 67 off 40 balls including 8 fours and 2 sixes. But Abul Hasan’s two boundaries in the final over sealed a 4 wicket victory for Bangladesh A in 19.4 overs with 4 wickets in hand.
The 5th and final match of the series will be held on 26 October (Thursday) at SICS Academy Ground, Cox’s Bazar.
