Bangladesh secure back to back emphatic victory in Tri-Nation Series

Result : Bangladesh won by 163 runs.

Bangladesh continued their winning streak with a comprehensive 163-run victory over Sri Lanka in the 3rd match of ROCKET Tri-Nation ODI Series 2018.

It was match of various milestones for Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasam, Anamul Haque, Sabbir Rahman and Mahmudullah. Tamim scored 11 thousand runs across three formats, first ever Bangladeshi to do so. Anamul Haque reached 1000 runs in ODI’s in 29 matches, joint quickest with Shahriar Nafees for Bangladesh. Then Shakib touched the landmark of 10 thousand runs across three formats. Sabbir also score past 1000 runs in ODIs during his unbeaten knock of 24. Mahmudullah played his 150th ODI today and later took his 50th catch in ODIs.

Earlier Mashrafe Bin Mortaza won the toss and opted to bat first at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque gave a good start to Bangladesh with a opening stand of 71 runs. Thisara Perera took the wicket of Anamul on 35. Then Tamim and Shakib Al Hasan added 99 runs in the 2nd wicket partnership.

Tamim missed his century by 16 runs and dismissed after scoring 84. Then Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim’s two quick-fire half-century set the Bangladesh innings for a big total. Some nig hitting from Sabbir Rahman in the last few overs helped the Tigers to post 320 in 50 overs. Thisara Perera took 3 wickets for 60.

Nasir Hossain gave the early breakthrough by dismissing Kusal Perera on 1. Soon skipper Mashrafe joined the wicket tally with the two back to back wickets of Upul Tharanga and Kusal Mendis.

Chandimal tried to put some fightback but he was run out on 28. Then Shakib and Rubel Hossain wrapped up the Sri Lanka innings in quick succession. Shakib grabbed 3 wickets for 47. Shakib also claimed the man of the match award for his all-round heroics.
