Bangladesh bowlers find hard to break Sri Lanka-shackles

Bangladesh : 513/10 in 129.5 overs (Mominul 175, Mushfiqur 92, Mahmudullah 83*; Lakmal 3/68, Herath 3/150)

Sri Lanka : 187/1 in 48 overs (Dhananjaya 104*, K. Mendis 83*; Miraz 1/45)

Bangladesh bowlers had a tough day as Sri Lanka dominated the last two sessions of the day of first Rocket Test against Sri Lanka at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. At the end of the second day, Sri Lanka trail by 326 runs with 9 wickets in hand.

Bangladesh were all out for 513 in the first session following a early batting collapse in the morning. Mominul Haque dismissed on 176 in the third over of the day. Then Bangladesh lost some wickets in quick-succession and were in trouble on 417 for 7.

Mahmudullah and Sunzamul Islam added 58 runs in the 8th wicket and helped Bangladesh to score past 500 runs. Sunzamul was gone after scoring 24. Mahmudullah remained not on 83. Lakmal and Herath shared 3 wickets each for Sri Lanka.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz gave the the early breakthrough to Bangladesh by picking up the wicket of Karunaratne on 0. From then rest of day Dhananjaya de Silva and Kusal Mendis frustrated Bangladesh bowlers and remained not out respectively on 104 and 83.

Mahmudullah tried his luck by using the bowlers but nothing worked to break the 187-run stand between Dhananjaya and Mendis.
