Bowlers dominated the first day of second Rocket Test as Bangladesh had a mixed day against Sri Lanka at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Bangladesh ended the day on 54 for 4 following Sri Lanka’s 222 in the first innings. Bangladesh still trail by 166 runs.
Earlier Sri Lanka have won the toss and decided to bat first. Veteran spinner Abdur Razzak who made his international comeback almost after four years, gave the first breakthrough to Bangladesh by dismissing Karunaratne for 3. Razzak the went on to take 3 more wickets to his tally. Overall Razzak bagged 4 wickets for 63 which is his best in Test so far. Taijul Islam also took 4 wickets for 83.
In reply Bangladesh had a nightmare start after losing 3 wickets for 12. Imrul Kayes and Liton Kumar Das tried to put some fightback in the 4th wicket. But Dilruwan Perera got rid of Imrul on 19 and put further trouble on Bangladesh. At the end of the day, Liton Kumar remained unbeaten on 24 and Mehidy Hasan Miraz was on 5. Lakmal took 2 wickets for 15.
