Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has arranged a reception for Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team for winning the Women’s Asia Cup T20 2018 at Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka yesterday (Monday). Bangladesh Women beat the six-time champion India Women by three wickets to clinch their first ever Asia Cup title.
BCB President Nazmul Hassan, BCB Officials and Bangladesh Men’s National cricketers were present on the occasion to greet Salma Khatun’s team. Shortly after returning from Airport, Women’s team joined at the reception programme.
Nazmul Hassan expressed his joy for the extraordinary triumph done by the girls stating a lot of hard work was the main reason behind their success. “Some people might think that they won the title by fluke but it was not like that. These girls had extreme hard works over the months. In the last couple of months we arranged two camps for them in Khulna and Cox’s Bazar. In March and April there was a residential camp here in Dhaka for them. So basically we were preparing for this tournament for a long time. We also brought foreign coaching staffs prior to this competition.”
State Minister for Youth and Sports Mr. Biren Sikder also shared his delight for the Women team’s success. “Our girls have made us proud. We always need to support them. I believe they will shine more in the future.”
Captain of the side, Salma Khatun thanked BCB for arranging such a programme to honour them. “We thank BCB for the reception and the rewards. These will inspire us to play better in the upcoming days. We won the title because of our tremendous team spirit. I hope form now Women’s cricket will change.”
