West Indies : 295/4 in 92 overs (Brathwaite 110, Hetmyer 84*, K Powell 29; Mehidy 3/90, Taijul 1/65)
Despite Spinner Mehidy Hasan’s tireless effort with three wickets, West Indies are in a strong position at the end of the first day of second Test at Jamaica. West Indies scored 295 for 4 in 92 overs at stumps thanks to Kraigg Brathwaite’s century.
Winning the toss, skipper Shakib Al Hasan decided to bowl first. Bangladesh made one change in squad with Taijul Islam replaing Rubel Hossain. Mehidy gave two early breakthrough in the morning session. But Brathwaite’s second century in the series rescued Windies from early depurtures of Devon Smith and Kieran Powell. Finally he was dimissed on 110 as Mehidy took his third wicket.
In between Taijul grabbed the wicket of Shai Hope on 29. Two unbeaten batsmen Simron Hetmyer and Roston Chase batted the rest of the days play. Hetmyer was not out on 84 and Chase was on 16. Mehidy picked up 3 wickets for 90.
