Batting collapse in second innings put Bangladesh in trouble on the second day of first Test against Windies at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chottogram. At stumps, Bangladesh lead by 133 runs with 5 wickets in hand.

Taijul Islam and Naeem Hasan resumed the Bangladesh innings on day two with the overnight total of 315 for 8. They added only 9 more runs before losing the last two wickets and bowled out for 324. Gabriel and Warrican shared 4 wickets each.

Taijul Islam gave the early breakthrough to Bangladesh by dismissing K Powell for 14. Then Shakib Al Hasan grabbed two wickets in one over to reduce Windies 54 for 3 at lunch. The visitors were in further trouble on 88 for 5 after debutant Naeem struck twice.

But Hetmyer’s counter-attacking 63-run knock helped to erase the early damage. Dowrich’s unbeaten 63 power Windies to post 246 before all out in 64 overs. Naeem bagged 5 wickets for 61 and become the youngest player in history to scalp 5-wicket haul in Test debut.

Bangladesh started the second innings with the first innings lead of 78 runs. But some poor shot selections from the batsmen put the Tigers in big trouble after losing 4 wickets for 35. Mohammad Mithun and Mushfiqur Rahim looked good to bat out the rest of the day but Bishoo got rid of Mithun on the last over of the day.

Bangladesh ended the day on 55 for 5 in 17 overs. Mushfiqur was not out on 11 and Miraz was on 0. Chase and Warrican shared two wickets each.
