Bangladesh start off the three-match series with victory by by defeating Windies by 5 wickets in the first ODI at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Bangladesh lead the series 1-0.

Windies were opted to bat first after winning the toss. Tamim Iqbal returns to the side after recovering from a injury during the Asia Cup. Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza played his 200th ODI as the first Bangladeshi cricketer.

Shakib Al Hasan gave the early breakthrough by dismissing K Powell on 10. Mashrafe struck twice while Mehidy bowled Hetmyer for 6 as Windies were reduced to 93 for in 29th over. Chase and Paul tried to put some fightback but some disciplined bowling in the later overs helped the Tigers to restrict the visitors for 196 for 9 in 50 overs. Mashrafe and Mustafizur Rahman shared three wickets each.

Chasing 196, Bangladesh lost the first wicket for 37 as Chase got rid of Tamim Iqbal on 12. Imrul Kayes then gone cheaply for 4 but Liton Kumar Das and Mushfiqur Rahim hold the Bangladesh innings. Liton was dismissed after scoring 42. Shakib and Soumya Sarkar got the start but failed the finish off the game.

Mushfiqur on the end brought up his 31st half-century in ODIs and remained unbeaten on 55 as Bangladesh chased down the target in 35.1 overs with 5 wickets in hand. Mahmudullah was not out on 14. Chase bagged 2 wickets for 47 for Windies.

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was named the Player of the Match.
