Rangpur Riders have secured their third win in the competition by defeating the hosts Sylhet Sixers by 4 wickets in a nail-biting finish at Sylhet as in form Rilee Rossouw struck another fifty to guide his side home. This win put Rangpur to the third spot of the points table for better net run-rate with 6 points. Sylhet on the other hand are now at the sixth on the table with 4 points from 7 matches.

Winning the toss, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza opted to bowl first at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sylhet. Despite the struggle of the top order batsmen, Sixers innings was boosted by openar Sabbir Rahman’s scorching knock of 85 off just 51 balls including 5 fours and 6 sixes. Nicholas Pooran chipped in with unbeaten 47 off 27 as the Sixers posted a big total of 194 for 4 after 20 overs. Mashrafe picked up 2 wickets for 31.

In the chase, Riders lost the big wicket of Chris Gayle in the first over by Mohammad Irfan. But their other three foreign recruits Alax Hales, Rilee Rossouw and AB de Villiers all stood up on the occasion as they put the Riders right in the chase. Hales was dismissed after scoring 33. Taskin Ahmed brought the Sixers in the game by dismissing both Rossouw and de Villiers in the 14th over. Rossouw scored 61 while de Villiers scored 34 in his first ever BPL innings.

But the late order batsmen made some small but valuable contributions to help Riders seal a thrilling 4-wicket win with 3 balls remaining. Taskin Ahmed bagged 4 wickets for 42 for Sixers.
