Bangladesh ODI Captain Masrafe Bin Mortaza has been ruled out of the Tour of Sri Lanka this month after picking up a hamstring injury at practice today. Mortaza’s recovery is expected to take three to four weeks. Bangladesh play three ODIs in Colombo on 26, 28 and 31 July. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named Tamim Iqbal captain for the tour. All rounder Farhad Reza meanwhile, has been named as replacement for Masrafe Bin Mortaza.
Regarding Mortaza’s injury, BCB Senior Physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury said: “Mortaza injured his left hamstring during training today. He received immediate MSK ultrasound examination which has revealed a grade 1 injury. It is a recurrent injury that could take around three to four weeks to recover from. Therefore, he is ruled out from participation in sporting activity for a month.”
All rounder Shaif Uddin has been ruled out of the Tour of Sri Lanka 2019 with a lower back injury. He will now enter a rehab programme under the supervision of the BCB Medical Team. Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed will replace Shaif in the squad.
