Bangladesh conceded their first defeat in Tri-Nation T20I Tournament as Afghanistan won the third match of tournament by 25 runs. Bangladesh will face Zimbabwe in the next match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on September 18.
Bangladesh played with the unchanged playing eleven from the last macth. Winning the toss, Afghanistan posted a formidable total of 164 for 5 thanks to player of the match Mohammad Nabi’s unbeaten 84-run knock. Bangladesh bowlers started the innings on a good note by picking up 4 wickets fro 40.
Then the 79 runs stand between Asghar Afghan and Nabi in the fifth wicket helped them recovering from the early trouble. Mohammad Saifuddin was the most successful bowler with 4 wickets for 33.
In the chase, Bangladesh lost the first wicket in the first ball of the innings like Afghanistan as Mujeeb Ur Rahman dismissed Liton Kumar Das for a duck. Promoted to the opening slot, Mushfiqur Rahim too got out cheaply after scoring 5. Tigers were in big trouble on 39 for 4 after losing Shakib Al Hasan and Soumya Sarkar in a quick span of time.
Mahmudullah and Sabbir then tried to put on a fightback but some tight bowling from the visitors made it difficult for the pair to score runs quickly. After their dismissal, Bangladesh lost the next wickets in a hurry as they were all out for 139 in 19.5 overs. Mujeeb grabbed 4 wickets for 15 for Afghanistan.
