Nayeem Hasan’s 4-fer has helped the Tigers hold on the balance against Zimbabwe who fought hard in the first day of Only Test in Mirpur. Zimbabwe ended on 228 for 6 at stumps of Day one thanks to skipper Craig Ervine’s gutsy century.
Earlier of the morning, Zimbabwe opted to bat first after winning the toss. Bangladesh made two changes in the playing eleven from the first Test against Pakistan. Mushfiqur Rahim and Nayeem Hasan came in the side replacing Mahmudullah and Rubel Hossain.
Zimbabwe lost their first wicket when Abu Jayed got rid of Kasuza for 2. Then Masvaure and Ervine frustrate the bowler with 111-run stand before Nayeem dismissed Masvaure fro 64 with a return catch. Since then it was Ervine who scored valuable runs for visitors while Bangladesh bowlers got back to the match with couple of late wickets in the evening session.
Nayeem made sure the Tigers will end the day on top as he bowled out centurion Ervine for 107 in the 89th over of the day. Nayeem claimed 4 wickets for 68. He got some support from Abu Jayed on the other end who grabbed 2 wickets for 51. Chakavba and Tiripano was remained unbeaten on 9 and 0 respectively.
