The disappointing campaign of Bangladesh Women extended further as they lost a nail-biting encounter against New Zealand Women in Melborne. It was third defeat in a row for the Tigresses in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020. They will now face Sri Lanka Women in the next match on March 2 at the same venue.

Bangladesh bowlers put on a sensational bowling display after New Zealand opted to bat first winning the toss. All the bowlers maintained a disciplined show as they bowled out New Zealand for 91. Ritu Moni who played her first match in the tournament grabbed 4 wickets for 18 while skipper Salma Khatun picked up 3 wickets for 7.

Chasing a target of 92, Bangladesh batsmen started carefully but lost the momentum when Nigar Sultana was forced to retire hurt. And then a batting collapse reduced Bangladesh from 31 for 2 to 59 fro 9. Highest scorer Nigar returned to bat to save her side but it was too late as they were all out for 74 in the 20th over. Jensen and Kasperak shared 3 wickets each for New Zealand.
