Bangladesh have maintained their winning ways in the T20I series following the Test and ODI series resoectively against Zimbabwe. After restricting the visitors for 119, Liton Das’s unbeaten fifty guided the Tigers for a comprehensive 9-wicket win in the second and final T20I.
Earlier in the evening, Mahmudullah opted to bowl first after winning the toss with three changes in the playing eleven from the first match. Debutant Hasan Mahmud, Naim Sheikh and Al-Amin Hossain came to the side replacing Tamim Iqbal, Aminul Islam and Shafiul Islam.
Zimbabwe batsmen were struggling for from the start as they faced some disciplined bowling from the seamers in the powerplay. Taylor and Ervine put on a 57-run second wicket stand which gave them the hope for a big total. But their effort was not enough as spinners came to the action and put further pressure.
Taylor batted throughout the innings and remained unbeaten 59 but got little support from the other side as Zimbabwe managed to post a below per total of 119 for 8. Al-Amin and Mustafizur Rahman shared 2 wickets each.
New opening pair Liton Das and Naim Sheikh made the small target much easier with a 77-run opening stand before Naim was dismissed on 30 by Mpofu. His partner Liton maintained fine form with another fifty to help Bangladesh sealing a comfortable 9-wicket victory. He remained not out on 60 while Soumya Sarkar chipped in with quickfire unbeaten 20 as Tigers won the match with 25 balls and 9 wickets in hand.
Liton Das named the both player of the match and player of the series who also scored fifty in the first match.
