Tigers kept their winning way against West Indies and sealed the ODI series with one match left following another comfortable victory. Chasing 149, Tamim’s 50 and Shakib’s unbeaten 43 helped Bangladesh winning the match with 7 wickets remaining. Third and final match of the series will be held on January 25 in Chattogram.
Despite the batting collapse in the first match, West Indies opted to bat first after winning the toss. But their fate remained same from the last match. Mustafizur struck early to dismiss Ambris for 5. Then it was all about the two spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan. The duo shared 6 wickets together to dismiss the Caribbeans for just 148 in 43.4 overs.
The visitors were in all sorts of trouble after losing 8 wickets for 8. Then it was Rovman Powell’s 41 which helped them scoring past their first match total of 122. Miraz was the standout bowler for the Tigers with his career-best ODI bowling figure of 4 for 25.
In response, both opener were off to a solid start. Liton Kumar looked good during his stay in the crease. He was trapped lbw on 22 by Akeal Hosein. Then Najmul Hossain gone cheaply for 17. But skipper Tamim brought up his 48th ODI fifty to set the platform for a easy win. After his departure, it was Shakib who gave the finishing touch with unbeaten 50-ball 43-run knock. Mushfiqur Rahim was not out on 9. Reifer, Jason and Akeil shared 1 wicket each.
