An entertaining day of Test cricket ended with both team squared in Chattogram. Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Kumar revived the Bangladesh innings in the last session of first day with an unbeaten 49-run partnership. At stumps, Tigers posted 242 for 5.

Earlier of the morning, winning the toss Mominul Haque decided to bat first. Shakib Al Hasan made his first Test return in the Bangladesh side after more than a year. Roach gave visitors the first breakthrough when he bowed out Tamim Iqbal for 9. Najmul Hossain looked good but unfortunately got run out after scoring 25.

Post lunch, Warrican led the fought-back for the Carribians in the match by removing two set batsmen Mominul Haque and Shadman Islam on 26 and 59 respectively. Warrican then struck again after the tea break by dismissing Mushfiqur Rahim on 38. Bangladesh were in trouble after losing 5 wickets for 193.

But Shakib and Liton batted the rest of the day’s play without further trouble. It was Liton who played an counter-attacking unbeaten 34 runs knock to score some quick runs in the later overs. His partner Shakib remained not out on 39. Warrican was the most successful bowler for West Indies with 3 wickets for 58.
