After tough two days, Bangladesh finally made their comeback in the second Test against West Indies. The visitors lost 3 wickets for 41 at stumps with a lead of 154 runs. Earlier Tigers were all out for 296 thanks to fifties from Liton Kumar Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Two overnight batsmen Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Mithun started the day for Bangladesh with the score of 105 for 4. Both looked good until Mithun gave away his hard-fought 86-ball 15-run knock to Cornwall. Mushfiqur on the other end picked up his 22nd Test fifty but soon became another victim of Cornwall’s off-spin as Bangladesh were reduced to 155 for 6. Pressure was back on Bangladesh and they still needed 54 runs to avoid the follow-on.

But Liton and Miraz had other idea as they showed resistance after the lunch break. The pair went onto add 126 runs in the 7th wicket and helped Bangladesh to reduce the gap from the visitors first innings total of 409. But Cornwall again struck to dismiss Liton for 71. Tigers lost their last three wickets for just 15 as they bowled out for 296. Cornwall grabbed 5 wickets for 74.

West Indies started their second innings with a lead of 113. Spinners gave Bangladesh the much needed early breakthrough to stay in the match as Brathwaite and Moseley gone for 6 and 7 respectively. Before end of the day’s play Taijul Islam chopped out Campbell for 18. Bonner was unbeaten on 8 and Warrican was on 2. Taijul, Nayeem and Miraz shared 1 wicket each.
