Tigers have started the Sri Lanka tour on a good note as batsmen dominated the first day of first Test in Kandy. Bangladesh ended the day on 302 for 2 thanks to the maiden Test century from Najmul Hossain and fifties from Tamim Iqbal and Mominul Haque.

Earlier Bangladesh opted to bat first after winning the toss. Opener Saif Hasan, Taskin Ahmed and Ebadat Hossain made their way back to the side after a break. But Saif failed to grab the opportunity as he gone for a duck in the second over.

Since then Tamim batted with comfort with Shanto as the pair went onto add 144 runs before Tamim unfortunately dismissed after scoring a brilliant 90 runs knock. But Shanto on the other end remained calm as the left-hander made another vital partnership with Mominul. During the partnership Shanto also brought up his first century in Tests. Mominul too picked up his half-century.

They batted throughout the day and remained unbeaten on 126 and 64 respectively. Shanto who almost was batting the all day, had a day to remember as finally he scored first century in his 12th Test. He looked solid in defense while facing 288 balls for the unbeaten knock.

Bangladesh will be eying a big total in the first innings on tomorrow and a lot will depend how far Shanto and Mominul will go. Vishwa grabbed 2 wickets for 61 for Sri Lanka.
