Mushfiqur, bowlers power Bangladesh to emphatic win

Toss : Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first.

Bangladesh : 247/10 in 48.1 overs (Mushfiqur 125, Mahmudullah 41, Liton 25; Chameera 3/44, Sandakan 3/54, Udana 2/49)

Sri Lanka : 141/9 in 40 overs (Danushka 24, Nissanka 20, Udana 18*, Mustafizur 3/16, Miraz 3/28, Shakib 2/38)

Result : Bangladesh won by 103 runs (DLS).

Bangladesh sealed the ODI series against Sri Lanka following the comfortable 103-run win in the second match of the series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. With the the win, Tamim Iqbal’s side now lead the series 2-0. Third and final match of the series will be held on May 28 at the same ground.

Tamim Iqbal decided to bat first after winning the toss again like the first match. Bangladesh made two changes in the playing XI from the first match. Mosaddek Hossain and debutant Shoriful Islam came to the side replacing Mohammad Mithun and Taskin Ahmed.

Tigers faced early trouble after losing both Tamim and Shakib on the second over for 15. Liton Kumar looked good during his stay at the crease but he too dismissed cheaply on 25. Bangladesh were in big trouble when they lost 4th wicket for 74 as Sandakan god rid of Mosaddek on 10.

From there it was again Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmdullah rescued the innings with a 87 runs partnership. Mahmudullah gone after scoring 41 but Mushfiqur picked up his 8th ODI century to help Bangladesh posting a fighting total. Tigers were eventually all out for 246 thanks to Mushfiqur’s 125. Chameera and Sandakan shared 3 wickets each.

In reply, Sri Lanka again suffered batting collapse after a good start. Couple of visiting batsmen got the start but failed to convert it into big as they lost wickets in regular intervals throughout their innings. Sri Lanka were set for a target of 245 in 40 overs after rain interruption. They managed to post 141 for 9. Mustafizur and Miraz both claimed 3 wickets each for Bangladesh.
