The Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) has decided on a fresh start for the Super League of the ongoing Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 Cricket League 2019-20. The Super League matches scheduled today were hit by inclement weather with ball being bowled in only the fixture between Gazi Group Cricketers and Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club where play was possible for just 1.3 overs.
Following requests from Gazi Group Cricketers and Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club which was unanimously supported by all the other clubs involved in the Super League, the CCDM in an emergency meeting decided to bring necessary amendments to the Match Playing Conditions of the League to allow a fresh start from 20 June and the maximum opportunity to complete matches on reserve days.
Accordingly, there will be a reserve day for the Super League with every effort made to complete the matches on the scheduled day with any necessary reduction in overs taking place. Only if the minimum number of overs necessary to constitute a match cannot be bowled on the scheduled day will the match be completed on the reserve day. If a match has started on the scheduled day and overs are subsequently reduced following an interruption but no further play is possible, the game will then resume on the reserve day.
CCDM Chairman Kazi Inam Ahmed said: “We had an emergency meeting today with all six teams of the Super League. The teams requested and we agreed in the best interest of the event and cricket to include reserve days for the Super League matches. We have a very tight schedule but still agreed on this this as the games are being televised live and we would like to see results of matches for this very important league.”
