Another dominant day on the field have put Bangladesh on the driving seat in Haraere. After setting up a target of 477 for the hosts, bowlers picked up 3 wickets before end of the day. Earlier Shadman Islam and Najmul Hossain’s century powered Bangladesh to declared second innings with a massive lead.
Opener Shadman and Saif Hasan started the day with the overnight score of 40. Both looked solid at the crease but Saif fell 7 runs short of half-century. Next batsman Najmul Hossain Shanto showed no mercy on the hosts bowlers as he picked up quick runs.
Shadman on the other end remained calm and scored his maiden Test century. Soon Shanto also picked up his century with some aggressive shot. The pair added unbeaten 196 runs before Mominul Haque decalared the innings on 284 for 1 with a lead of 476.
Shanto was not out on 117 off 118 balls including 5 fours and 6 sixes. His partner Shadman was on 115.
Taskin Ahmed gave the early breakthrough with the wicket of Shumba on 11. Since then Zimbabwe skipper took on the bowlers as he played with more than 100 strike-rate to counter attack Bangladesh. Finally Miraz stopped him on 92. Shakib Al Hasan ended debutant Kaitano’s 102-ball 7-run resistance on the other end.
