Bangladesh aim to maintain winning streak against New Zealand

After an impressive start to the ICC Cricket World Cup campaign, Tigers are set to face New Zealand in their second match. Both team have played one match each and won their respective matches. New Zealand has beaten Sri Lanka by 10 wickets while Bangladesh defeated South Africa by 21 runs.

For Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s team, it will be an important match to continue the recent success in the ODIs. Bangladesh is unbeaten in their last 5 matches. A win against the Black Caps will further strengthen their position in the points table.

So far Bangladesh faced New Zealand 34 times in ODIs and won 10 of them. New Zealand won 24 matches. In the World Cup stage the two teams faced each other five times and the Kiwis have won all the encounters.

Bangladesh clinched their first victory against New Zealand in this format was on 2008 home series where they went onto won the series by 4-0. In 2013, Bangladesh posted the highest total of 309 for 6 against New Zealand at Fatullah and also won the match.

Number one ODI all-rounder in ICC Rankings, Shakib Al Hasan led both the highest run and wickets tally for the Tigers against New Zealand. Shakib scored 575 runs in 21 matches against them while with the ball he claimed 35 wickets. Mahmdullah’s unbeaten 128 is the highest individual score for the Tigers against New Zealand. With the ball, Rubel Hossain’s 6 for 26 is the best among the Bangladesh bowlers.
