Bangladesh faced an tough day with the bat on the first day of first Test agapinst Pakistan in Rawalpindi. Mohammad Mithun scored an gritty fifty but other batsmen struggled as Tigers were bowled out for 233 in the first innings before the end of the days play.

Earlier of the day, Pakistan opted to bowl first after winning the toss. Saif Hasan made his Test debut for Bangladesh who had a forgettable start to the international cricket after dismissed for a duck in the third ball of the first over. Tamim Iqbal then gone cheaply as Bangladesh reduced to 2 for 3. From there Najmul Hossain Shanto and skipper Mominul Haque started the rebuild process with a 59-run stand.

But their resistance was cut short by the hosts as they put Bangladesh in further trouble by dismissing couple of wickets in a short span. Mohammad Mithun then led the fightback with his gusty knock of 63. He got some support from Liton Kumar Das and Taijul Islam who contributed 33 and 24 runs respectively. Bangladesh were eventually all out for 233 in 82.5 overs and Umpires then called for a early end to the days play. Shaheen Afridi bagged 4 wickets for 53 for Pakistan.
