Taijul Islam and spinners have inspired Bangladesh to a convenient victory in the first Test against Windies at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chottogram. Bangladesh lead the 2-match series by 1-0. Second Test of the series will start from November 30.

It was a record-breaking match for Shakib Al Hasan who became the first Bangladeshi bowler to take 200 wickets in Test. Shakib also made another record by becoming the the quickest player in Test history to pick up 200 wickets and score 3000 runs in 54 matches.

Earlier Bangladesh were all out for 125 in the second innings as Mahmudullah’s 31-run knock helped Bangladesh to take 203 runs lead. Bishoo and Warrican shared 4 wickets each.

Defending 203, Shakib Al Hasan and Taijul Islam gave Bangladesh a dream start as Windies were reduced to 11 for 4 at lunch. Hetmyer played an counter-attacking knock before Miraz dismissed him for 27. Bangladesh were sniffing an easy win after Taijul scalped three more wickets in no time as the visitors were in big trouble after losing 8 wickets for 75.

But Ambris and Warrican had other idea as they went on to made an 63-run stand in the ninth wicket to give Windies a hope for a outside chance in the chase. It was again Miraz who did the trick by dismissing Warrican for 41. Taijul got rid of Ambris on the other end as Windies were all out for 139 in 35.2 overs. Taijul bagged 6 wickets for 33.

Mominul Haque was adjusted man of the match for his brilliant century in the first innings.
