Bangladesh clinched first victory in Tri-Nation series

Ireland : 181/10 in 46.3 overs (Joyce 46, N. O’Brien 30, Dockrell 25, Mustafizur 4/23, Mashrafe 2/18, Sunzamul 2/22)

Bangladesh : 182/2 in 27.1 overs (Soumya 87*, Tamim 47, Sabbir 35, K. O’Brien 1/20, McCarthy 1/35))

Result : Bangladesh won by 8 wickets.

Soumya Sarkar’s unbeaten fifty guided Bangladesh to a comprehensive 8 wickets victory over Ireland in the 4th match of Walton Tri-Nation series.

After winning the toss, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza opted to field first at Malahide, Dublin. Mustafizur Rahman’s impressive bowling performance restricted Ireland for 181 in 46.3 overs. Ed Joyce scored highest 46. Mustafizur picked up 4 wickets for 23. Debutant Sunzamul Islam and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza shared 2 wickets each.

In reply Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar gave Bangladesh a decent start.  Kevin O’Brien broke the partnership and picked up the wicket of Tamim on 47. Next batsman Sabbir Rahman gone for 35 off 34 balls. Soumya remained not out on 87 from 68 balls including 11 fours and 2 sixes. Mushfiqur Rahim was the other unbeaten batsman on 3. Kevin O’Brien and Barry McCarthy both claimed one wicket each. 

Bangladesh will play their next match against New Zealand at Clontarf Cricket Club Ground, Dublin on 24th May.
